Led by Sheri Brown, St. Luke will host an onsite weekend retreat, April 19-21, 2024. This intergenerational retreat concept grew from St. Luke members and staff developing a strong online relationship with Sheri Brown leading various sessions. Our focus for this gathering is on spiritual renewal and development with zero waste. Sheri Brown is a retired special education teacher, news reporter, and video producer who has written liturgy, poems and reflections for nearly 15 years. Her writing has been described as “sometimes raw but always real,” and as a “fresh perspective on old words”. Sheri and spouse, ELCA pastor Kirk Anderson (retired), live in Arizona where Sheri is affiliated with Spirit in the Desert Retreat Center. Currently, they reside in Idaho on an interim assignment. Sheri will use air, water, earth and fire references to provide personal motivation within the context of our Christian faith to respond to the many climate-based challenges we face daily. Shewill be joined by St. Luke staff members and volunteers to ignite participants to identify and nurture their climate sensitivities. The weekend fee is $20 for each adult attendee. Materials, meals and snacks are included in this fee. Students attend at no charge. Sheri Brown comes to St. Luke for this retreat through a grant from the St. Luke Trust Fund Committee. We welcome members and guests. Use this link to register online. Payment options include check, cash or Venmo. Note: Coming Home to Earth is the title of a book published in 2016, by Pastor Mark Brocker, St. Luke Theologian in Residence. For more info or registration support contact: Maripat Hensel, St. Luke member and Coming Home to Earth volunteer, henselresearch@gmail.com. |
