God’s work.
Our hands.

As an active community of Christ we understand our call to share the gifts that we have with the world.

Our Outreach to Others

Picture

Climate Justice Ministry

As Christians and Lutherans we believe that advocacy is a public voice and witness to the Gospel of Jesus, and where the Church speaks with and on behalf of others in need. At St. Luke we take this to be a calling as part of the body of Christ.

We are engaged in advocacy from a place of faith, not of partisanship.
We invite you to speak your voice to leaders in places of power and position through any one of the advocacy groups or initiatives that we are engaged in, including hunger, environmental, and peace and justice advocacy.
For more information please read here.

Lay Visitation Ministry

Lay Visitation Ministry – bring Communion and good company to St. Luke members who are unable to come to worship.  By “extending the table” our visitation ministers build the communal body of Christ by building connection.  Our Lay Visitation Coordinator and Pastors match visitors with homebound members and provide training.  For more information contact: [email protected]

Community Table Food Pantry

On the second and last Saturday of each month, St. Luke distributes boxes of food, meat, produce, and household products to our neighbors in need. We utilize a drive through distribution. Hours of distribution are 2–3pm.

Click here to go to the Fred Meyer Community Rewards page, then log in and link your Rewards Card to St. Luke. Designate reward dollars to Community Food Box using the Non-Profit Organization (NPO) number, ND166. (Your personal rewards savings will not be affected.)

This institution is an equal opportunity provider and an Oregon Food Bank Partner.
You can check out the USDA's Nondiscrimination Statement here.

Priceless Company Quilters

The need for quilts is greater than ever, both overseas and locally. In response, the Priceless Company Quilters assemble and tie quilts for distribution to Lutheran World Relief, local agencies, and others yearning for warmth and comfort. If you enjoy quilting, join us and make a difference.

Social Concerns Committee

The Social Concerns “Outreach Ministries” are supported through congregational giving (benevolence) addressing issues of poverty, hunger, shelter, clothing, community health, refugees, education, advocacy, and environmental stewardship. The Committee provides funding support for two long-standing congregational projects:  Community Table and Grauer Back-to-School.

This Committee is open for membership to anyone in the congregation and we invite you  to learn more about the Social Concerns Committee and the numerous nonprofits supported by congregational benevolence giving here.

The Grauer Back-to-School Project is a volunteer, non-profit collaborative partnership with local faith organizations, social services agencies and businesses, created to respond to the back-to-school needs of low-income children who attend school in the Ida B. Wells cluster of schools in Southwest Portland.

Each year, on the 2nd Saturday of August, we provide a new winter coat, socks, shoes, underwear, T-shirt, and a backpack full of school supplies for each child who comes to Grauer. For more information please visit: grauerbacktoschool.com.
