Job Description: Nursery Attendant
(3 positions available)
Principle Function:
Provide for the physical, emotional and intellectual stimulation and safety of children ages 0-5 years
while working in the church nursery.
General Qualifications:
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Knowledge of developmentally appropriate needs of children ages 0-5 years
• Be polite, friendly and courteous to all children, parents and volunteers
• Speak in a gentle tone of voice to the children
• Ability to work alongside other adult nursery attendants
Essential Duties:
• Coordinate schedule with other 2 nursery attendants so 2 attendants are present every Sunday
(each attendant works ~ 35 Sundays/year)
• Arrive at 9am; leave at noon
• Sign all children in, stay until all children secured with a responsible adult
• Maintain good handwashing/sanitizing with children, toileting, diaper changes
• Dependability is essential, tardiness and last-minute schedule changes should be rare
• Minimal phone usage when working, be actively engaged with children
• Maintain a clean and organized nursery environment. Ensure all toys are safe and sanitized
• Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and a commitment to respecting and celebrating diQerences
• Nursery attendants are expected to work on holidays which might fall on a Sunday
• Do not work when ill; this may involve trading shifts with another worker
Pre employment:
• Provide 1 personal and 2 professional references
• Complete St. Luke background check
• Complete Adult, Child & Baby First Aid & AED class online (American Red Cross $37, St. Luke
pays)
Supervisor:
• Lisa Sickler/Nursery Supervisor
Salary:
• $20/hour, or $60 each Sunday morning
• Contract employee, no benefits
