Our
Theme
Our year long theme for SLY is “Extreme Love” based on I
Corinthians 13 – “In Doing Everything We Do, The Heart of
It is Love.”
“If I speak with human eloquence and angelic ecstasy but don’t
love, I’m nothing but the creaking of a rusty gate. If I speak
God’s Word with power, revealing all his mysteries and making everything
plain as day, and if I have faith that says to a mountain, ‘jump’,
and it jumps, but I don’t have love, I’m nothing. If I give
everything I own to the poor and even go to the stake to be burned as
a martyr, but I don’t have love, I’ve gotten nowhere. So,
no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I’m bankrupt
without love."
~ I Corinthians 13:1-7 The Message
We are focusing on building character and integrity, determining how
we are to live our lives as Christians, serving others and practicing
prayer and worship.
All of our meetings and activities are inclusive of this theme –
from Sunday morning Sunday School to Wednesday night Midweek Madness to
seasonal parties and retreats. We want to move toward having a deeper
relationship with God and healthier relationships with others.
