Worship Volunteer Opportunities

Altar Guild

“Take the shoes from your feet, for the place you stand is holy ground.” These were the words spoken to Moses through a burning bush. God's presence is sacred space. So 67 St. Luke members take on this ministry of making our worship setting and practices “sacred space.”

Our work focuses on pastoral vestments, altar and baptismal linens, care of church banners, placement of flowers in the sanctuary, communion and altar preparation and provision for festival Sundays.
 

Ushers

Our 15 ushering teams offer a welcoming atmosphere for worshipers. Ask them not only for a worship bulletin but also information on hearing assist devices, large print bulletins, nursery care and children’s colorful worship bags.
 

Readers

Before the sermon is preached, the Scriptures are read. Congregational members read the 1st and 2nd lessons for the Sunday in worship. Thirty-two St. Luke members have volunteered to share their skills in this way.
