Easy 2-part and unison anthems are sung at the 10:00am service, two Sundays a month. You don’t have to read music (although it helps) and you don’t have to sign up in advance, just come to the rehearsal at 9:30am.Marimba Workshop

Students entering grades 5-8 this fall may register for a 5-hour, African marimba workshop on Friday July 27 from 9am - 2:30pm. Our director will be MyLinda King, former member of Boka Marimbas who has been teaching African marimba classes since 1995 at several local schools and colleges. She has been a guest instructor for many of the Zimbabwean Music Festivals in the Pacific Northwest and Canada. MyLinda directs seven marimba bands comprised of nearly sixty private students in her marimba studio in Northeast Portland. Space for this workshop is limited to 20 people, so don’t delay in submitting your registration! Forms are available in the narthex and the church office.

Drama Workshop

On Saturday, July 28 (9am – 3pm), Susan Johnson (former St. Luke Children’s Ministry Director) will conduct a drama workshop for kids entering grades 5-8 which will include training in basic stage and acting skills as well as the preparation of one or two dramatic sketches for use in worship on July 29. Space for this workshop is limited to 20 people, so don’t delay in submitting your registration! Forms are available in the narthex and the church office.

Music Madness

Music Madness will be held on Saturday, July 28 from 9am – 3pm and is for kids entering grades 1-4. Participants will experience a variety of “hands on” musical experiences including: playing tone chimes, dulcimers, recorders, singing, performing songs with American Sign Language, and dance (musical movement). The Saturday afternoon session will conclude with a performance at a local assisted living facility and a presentation in worship the next day. Please register your child by July 1.

For more information on any of the above, contact Dan Hibbett at 503-246-2325 x19 or email dan@stlukechurch.com. Hope to see you this summer.
